I've tried to model racial reconciliation and unity and diversity in front of my daughters. And I know that's impacted their relationships... Maybe that's one sign that I'm modeling something well in front of my kids, that they see my intentionality showing reconciled, beloved community in front of them. And so that's one way we can be a sneak preview of Heaven is in our relationships... allowing our kids to see that we're intentional about cross-cultural relationships.

"Anything lasting, anything of eternal value, anything of substance, we can't do without Him. But as far as the big picture....we parent out of relationship - our relationship with God and our relationship with our kids and life, it's a rhythm, and God designed it that way."

So as I'm guarding the doors of my kids' hearts, and I'm teaching them to guard the doors of their hearts, I'm asking questions like this, 'What spirit is this entertaining?' Teach them to ask, 'what spirit is this elevating? What spirit is this welcoming?' Because if this is a door, I get to decide who I host, who I invite, who I welcome and who I host. And everything is entertaining to some spirit.

We want to see a generation of dads who are builders, who are saying with intentionality and focus with their time, with their money, with their passions. I'm going to build a family. I'm going to build towards having a heart connection with my kids. I'm going to build, in a direction that glorifies the Lord.

“How are your kids going to learn how to say sorry, unless they learn how to apologize from you? So your mistakes are actually one of the greatest opportunities to teach your children one of life’s most important lessons….I think it starts with prioritizing our children. Not idolizing. Prioritizing. Big difference there.”

Matthew 6:21 “For your heart will always pursue what you value as your treasure”... The more we treasure the dad life the more our heart will pursue more of it. Our heart will pursue what we treasure. My prayer is that you would ENJOY the dad life. You are dadAWESOME.

Jeff Zaugg recorded this special episode of dadAWESOME the day after his dad, Chuck went home to Heaven to be with Jesus. Chuck was 67 years old and after a 100-week battle with brain cancer and lung cancer, our prayers were answered and he is now healed completely in Heaven.
