Gaelin Elmore’s childhood experiences included foster care, homelessness, and abuse. Now a father of two young girls, he reflects on how his past shaped his parenting and shares what other dads need to know about stepping up for children in foster care.

Before Lisa Max was a parenting coach or ministry director, she walked her own journey of brokenness. She experienced a childhood of hurt and later witnessed her own children face the emotional pain she had once endured. However, God redeemed her family's story. In this episode, she provides fathers with tangible wisdom and practical solutions to walk in authority and partner with the Holy Spirit in parenting.

"God is very interested and motivated in the initiation of our children. It’s what makes Him come alive. He has their best interests in mind. And when I put down my agenda, I got curious. I got responsive. The path that my children have chosen and the God has chosen for them is not what I would have chosen in so many ways, but being a student and being attentive and participating has changed everything."

We don't just have a heavenly father that parents us. We have a heavenly father who fathers us.

"I'm trying to build in not only them to be receivers, but then to be leaders and already I'm thinking about them as fathers. I'm thinking about them as husbands. I'm not just thinking about them as my kids with some obligation I have to mention Jesus as we put them to bed. But I'm trying to grow men."
